okay, my pregnant friend has requested some recipes for her pregnant tummy.
nothing makes me happier than when someone eats my food and then asks for the recipe.
nothing.
i’m working on a creamy salad dressing that is light and tangy. in germany, they have this dressing that is vinegary, but creamy. it’s divine. not gloppy or mayonnaise-y. i made my own version of it…
RANCH DRESSING WITH FETA
DIJON MUSTARD
DILL RANCH PACKET
MILK
FETA CHEESE
CHIVES, BASIL, AND FRESH WHATEVER.
JUICE AND ZEST OF A LEMON.
LOTS OF FRESH CRACKED PEPPER
USE A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING, THEN KEEP WORKING ON YOUR MIXTURES. I LIKE A THINNER DRESSING, SO I ADD ALMOST A CUP OF MILK. THE FETA CREAMS IT ALL UP, AND THE REST ARE FOR FLAVOR.
THE MORE FRESH HERBS, THE BETTER. TRY VINEGARS TOO, IF YOU LIKE A MORE TANGY DRESSING. AND MAYBE A LITTLE GREEN ONION? LOVE GREEN ONION.
CHEX MIX AND GRANOLA RECIPES COMING UP!!!
I’m going to step out on a limb here and try making ranch w o mayo! How is this possible?! I will report back. I adore mayo, and Joe despises it.
HEY LADY! I NEVER MAKE RANCH WITH MAYO, SO I CAN TELL YOU HOW! YOU CAN USE MILK AND YOGURT OR MILK AND SOUR CREAM, OR SOMETIMES I JUST ADD HALF&HALF AND LEMON JUICE AND DIJON MUSTARD. IT’S THINNER, LIKE THIS WHITE DRESSING THEY HAVE IN GERMANY THAT I CRAVE ALL THE TIME. RECENTLY, I USED MILK, LEMON JUICE, DIJON AND FETA CHEESE, AND BLENDED IT. IT WAS MY FAVORITE, I THINK. YOU CAN ALSO ADD LAUGHING COW CHEESE. THAT’S A GREAT LOW-CAL THICKENER!
