this is it. the jackpot. after months of trying new recipes and making up my own, this is the one. it is so insanely wonderful. and good looking too!
isn’t that pretty?
here’s the recipe. make it as much as you possibly can.
mix 2 cups oats with a bunch of your favorite raw nuts (i added sliced almonds, sunflower seeds, pepitas, chopped walnuts ~ you get the idea).
add 2 tablespoons ground flax seed. it’s good for you!
season with a pinch of salt, a teaspoon of cinnamon, and gwyneth paltrow’s trick ~ 1/2 teaspoon garam masala. it’s a spice that can be found in the regular ole normal grocery store, and it’s amazing how much you can use this stuff. anything from pulled pork dishes, to soups, to this granola. it’s that exotic hit that’s kinda like nutmeg.
anyway, i digress….
mix all of that stuff together, and add the following:
2 Tablespoons oil (the healthiest oil you own)
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup cranberry juice or tart cherry juice
2 Tablespoons agave nectar
1 teaspoon vanilla
mix together and spread out on a cookie sheet, lined with parchment paper.
bake at 350 for 20 minutes, or until brown.
when you take it out of the oven, just let it cool in the pan. as it’s cooling sprinkle some brown sugar on top of it, or honey. or both! just a little gives a great flavor.
after it cools, toss the granola with a bag of your favorite dried fruit. my favorite combo is berries and cherries ~ it’s a mixture of dried strawberries, cranberries, and cherries. it’s so amazing in this granola, especially the strawberries. and then i like to add a bunch of white raisins, too. my favorite.
i hope you make this amazing granola. if you think you don’t like granola, this granola will change your mind!
