cardio? or hamster wheel?

we midwesterners live in a pretty luxurious world.  nice, big, roomy cars, garages that connect to our houses, big parking lots that are never completely full…convenience everywhere you turn.  which means there’s no built-in exercise to our typical day.  we have to simulate it, with treadmills and crossfit classes.

and it never seems to be enough.  walk or jog for 30 minutes on a treadmill?  how will that compare to a new yorker, who walks blocks and blocks each way, just to the subway stop?  or a farmer who is on his feet all day long?

let’s get our creative juices flowing and look for ways to make this exercise thing work for us, shall we?    i’m looking for ways to move that will really make a difference.
