Closing Gift Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Buying or selling a house is such an emotional time for everyone. I love to help people in their hour of need, so it’s no small wonder that I love being a realtor.

And while I hope my 1st buyers never leave their home (it’s that beautiful), I know they’ll call on me to help sell their house, should the need arise. NOT because I’m a great realtor, but because their closing gift included a bottle of tequila, and these chocolate chip cookies.

Does anything say love like a chocolate chip cookie? No. The answer is no.

Here’s the recipe. Let’s see, do I have a picture? I do!

That picture doesn’t do these cookies justice. The first batch I made with a mini ice cream scoop, and they were too crispy. I need crispy AND chewy. I made the second batch for everyone else who helped me through this first transaction and used a bigger ice cream scoop. They were perfect.

So don’t change the size of these cookies if you make them. The big ones are superior!

This is a Martha Stewart recipe, and she really thought of everything. I don’t like it when she says, “in a smaller bowl, do this” and then “in a larger bowl yada yada”. Why? Why so many bowls? It’s just unnecessary. I think she heard me complaining all the way over here in Kansas City, Missouri. Thank you, Martha!

I didn’t change a SINGLE thing with this recipe. It’s perfection. It makes a lot, it doesn’t take completely softened butter (I aint got no time for that) and the texture is to die for.

Enough babbling! Here’s the recipe, y’all!

Closing Gift Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 sticks butter softened, but still cool to the touch
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 eggs room temp, if you care.
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 bag chocolate chips I always use Ghirardelli because #diva.

Instructions

  • Mix the butter, sugars, baking soda and powder, and salt all together until creamy. 2-3 mins.
  • Beat in vanilla.
  • Beat in eggs, one at a time, and scrape down the sides a few times.
  • Add in flour, one cup at a time. Easy does it.
  • Dump in your chocolate chips and mix lightly.
  • Using an ice scoop, add only 9 cookies to a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. These things really spread out, so leave room!
  • Flatten cookies slightly and bake at 350 degrees for 9 minutes. Pull out and bang the pan a few times on a cold surface, like your countertop. Bake for another 3 minutes and do the same thing. Put the cookies back in for another 1-2 minutes, or until they start to brown.

  1. Simply the BEST! These are delicious! You are so talented. Realtor, singer, baker…what Can’t you do??? xoxoxo

  2. I must say the cookies lasted all of 2 seconds, they were that good! (Okay, maybe a TAD bit longer than that…) Thank you, Sarah for being all the awesomeness that you are! You held our hand (and still are, truth be told!) through the whole experience of buying not just a new home, but a new construction one, just to make it that much harder. I’m so glad David and I got to be your first clients!

    1. And if I’m one of those GOOD realtors, I’ll always be there to hold your hand! It’s a lifetime commitment, should you choose to accept it! XOXO
